To further foster a robust academic atmosphere, broaden graduate students’ academic horizons, strengthen their scientific research and innovation capabilities, improve their proficiency in research presentation, achievement summarization and comprehensive expression, and support the cultivation of high-level innovative chemical engineering talents, the School held the presentation session of the 1st "BoYan·New Voices" Graduate Academic Forum in the Chemical Engineering Building on the afternoon of June 10. Centered on disciplinary frontiers and industrial demands, the forum built a high-standard platform for all graduate students to conduct academic exchanges and polish their research competence.
The forum adopted the theme Frontier Innovation in Chemical Engineering & Green Low-Carbon Development, closely aligning with the carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals and the high-quality development direction of modern chemical industry. Since the call for papers opened, the forum received an enthusiastic response from graduate students across the School, attracting over one hundred submissions. After multi-round rigorous evaluation including voluntary application, preliminary expert review and manuscript screening, 25 graduate students stood out with solid research foundations and high-quality research outcomes to deliver oral presentations at the forum.
The presentation venue was filled with vibrant academic energy. Each participating graduate student elaborated systematically on their phased research progress, innovative research ideas and practical application results based on their respective research directions. Their presentations covered cutting-edge industrial fields including green chemical engineering, low-carbon energy conservation, process optimization and new material development, fully demonstrating our graduate students’ research commitment to advancing academic disciplines and serving national strategic needs. Invited review experts delivered comprehensive and detailed comments covering research logic, technical methodologies, innovative highlights, structural frameworks and presentation skills. They pinpointed research deficiencies and improvement directions, answered questions and shared professional experience on site, providing targeted guidance for students to optimize research schemes, clarify research pathways and upgrade their overall academic literacy.
All reviews were conducted in line with the principles of fairness, impartiality and transparency. The expert panel scored and conducted collective evaluation from multiple dimensions including research innovation, integrity of research outcomes, logical coherence of presentations and overall academic performance. After strict merit-based selection, multiple winners of First Prize, Second Prize, Third Prize, Excellence Award and Best Oral Presentation Award were selected to recognize outstanding researchers and set academic role models.
At the closing session, Vice Dean Li Ying delivered a summary speech. She extended sincere gratitude to all review experts for their meticulous guidance and incisive comments, and commended all participating graduate students for their active involvement and thoughtful presentations. She pointed out that academic exchanges among graduate students constitute an integral component of the College’s talent training system, serving as a vital platform to refine research capabilities, stimulate academic critical thinking and facilitate peer learning and mutual progress. The inaugural "BoYan·New Voices" Forum created a premium stage for graduates to display research achievements, exchange ideas and pursue joint advancement. Through real-world presentation practice, students were able to summarize research findings, hone comprehensive abilities and identify personal shortcomings, greatly boosting their overall research literacy.
