BUCT Excels Again in 2025 Beijing Chemical Engineering Principles Competition

On May 24–25, the 2025 Beijing Chemical Engineering Principles Competition, hosted by the Beijing Municipal Education Commission and organized by Beijing Institute of Petrochemical Technology, concluded successfully. The event brought together top undergraduate students from various universities across the city, serving as a premier platform to assess mastery of core chemical engineering knowledge.

The competition consisted of a written preliminary round and a final round involving process design and on-site defense. Participants were challenged to apply chemical engineering principles to analyze real-world problems and propose innovative solutions under strict time constraints.

Supported by the BUCT Academic Affairs Office, the College of Chemical Engineering held a campus-wide selection in April. A total of 126 students participated in the internal qualifying exam, with 20 outstanding students forming 10 teams to represent BUCT in the finals.

Led by Professor Pu Yuan and guided by faculty members Wang Shui, Zhang Liangliang, and Xu Haoxiang, the BUCT teams demonstrated strong technical and teamwork skills. Their performance earned 3 Grand Prizes, 4 First Prizes, and 3 Second Prizes, securing the overall Team First Prize for the university.

The College of Chemical Engineering at BUCT continues to prioritize excellence in undergraduate education as part of its “Double First-Class” initiative. The course Chemical Engineering Principles has been recognized as a National First-Class Undergraduate Course, and BUCT students have consistently excelled in major national and regional competitions.

Looking ahead, the college remains committed to cultivating top-tier talent and promoting innovative, hands-on learning experiences for future chemical engineers.
