On August 12th, the Global Association of Chinese Chemical Engineers (GACCE) and the Chemical Industry and Engineering Society of China (CIESC) announced the results of the 2024 International Outstanding Young Chemical Engineer award. According to the relevant evaluation procedures outlined in the Regulations on the Awarding of the International Outstanding Young Chemical Engineer Award, Professor Cheng Daojian from the School of Chemical Engineering at Beijing University of Chemical Technology was selected as the 2024 International Outstanding Young Chemical Engineer after being nominated by relevant units and experts, undergoing a formal review by the selection working group, and being evaluated by the expert review committee.
The International Outstanding Young Chemical Engineer Award is an international award jointly established, evaluated, and presented by the Chemical Industry and Engineering Society of China (CIESC) and the Global Association of Chinese Chemical Engineers (GACCE). Its purpose is to encourage young chemical engineers to devote themselves to the chemical industry, enhance their innovation and application abilities, promote learning and exchanges among chemical engineers at home and abroad, and strengthen the selection and training of reserve talents for international organizations. The award recognizes young engineers who have made outstanding contributions to scientific and technological research and innovation, international exchanges and cooperation in the field of chemical engineering worldwide. The award is presented annually, with one outstanding young scholar selected from both domestic and overseas candidates. The two award-setting units jointly present the award certificate to the winners. The overseas young scholar who received the International Outstanding Young Chemical Engineer award in 2024 is Dr. Yishouliang, the Chief Scientist at the U.S. National Energy Technology Laboratory and an Adjunct Professor at the University of Pittsburgh.
