On the morning of October 16th, the appointment ceremony for an honorary professor at Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT) was held in the multi-function hall on the first floor of the conference center. Professor Javier García Martinez, a professor of inorganic chemistry and director of the Molecular Nanotechnology Laboratory at the University of Alicante in Spain, was appointed as an honorary professor at BUCT. Tan Tianwei, President of BUCT and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, attended the appointment ceremony, which was presided over by Cheng Daojian, Dean of the School of Chemical Engineering.
During the ceremony, Cheng Daojian introduced the basic information of Professor Javier García Martinez. President Tan Tianwei presented the appointment letter to Professor Javier García Martinez, and a student representative pinned the school badge on the professor and presented flowers.
On behalf of the university, President Tan Tianwei warmly welcomed Professor Javier García Martinez as an honorary professor at BUCT. He stated that Professor Javier García Martinez's joining will help promote the development of the school's chemical engineering and technology discipline, actively facilitate strengthened communication and cooperation between the University of Alicante in Spain and BUCT, and will be beneficial for gathering distinctive advantages from all parties. Efforts will be made to continuously achieve new progress and results in areas such as building high-level research platforms, promoting academic exchanges among teachers, conducting international scientific research cooperation, and collaboratively cultivating top talents, effectively supporting the high-quality development of the Open BUCT initiative.
Professor Javier García Martinez expressed his deep honor at receiving the title of honorary professor from the School of Chemical Engineering at BUCT. He stated that he is particularly looking forward to future in-depth exchanges and cooperation with our university, contributing his own strength to talent cultivation and scientific research at BUCT.
After the appointment ceremony, Professor Javier García Martinez delivered a fascinating academic report titled Chemistry beyond the Electron Shell: Creating a Circular Chemistry for a More Sustainable Future to the teachers and students of our university, and engaged in lively interactions and exchanges with those present.
