Prof. Ata Utku Akcil and Prof. Turgut Tüzün Onay join BUCT as Adjunct Professor

On September 20, 2023, the Appointment Ceremony of Adjunct Professors of Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT) was held in the multi-functional hall on the first floor of the conference center, and Prof. Ata Utku Akcil of Suleyman Demirel University (SDPU) and Prof. Turgut Tüzün Onay of Straits University (STU), both of whom are part-time professors of BUCT, were appointed as adjunct professors of BUCE. Vice President Wang Feng, Director of International Exchange and Cooperation Office Zhang Bing, Deputy Director of Personnel Office Gao Huiling, Executive Director of One Belt, One Road Institute of Global Cooperation Liu Guangqing, and Professor Chen Chang of School of Chemical Engineering attended the appointment ceremony. Mr. Cheng Daojian, Dean of the School of Chemical Engineering, presided over the appointment ceremony.

At the appointment ceremony, Liu Guangqing introduced the basic information of Prof. Ata Utku Akcil and Prof. Turgut Tüzün Onay. Wang Feng awarded the appointment certificates to Prof. Ata Utku Akcil and Prof. Turgut Tüzün Onay, and the student representatives presented flowers to the two appointed professors.

Wang Feng said in his speech that the university had always adhered to the basic principle of opening up education to the outside world, vigorously implemented the strategy of globalization development, adhered to the combination of going out and inviting in, and made great efforts to expand global partnerships and actively build a global cooperation network system. In their speeches, Prof. Akcil and Prof. Onay fully affirmed the achievements of Beijing University of Chemical Technology in recent years, and expressed that they were honored to join Beijing University of Chemical Technology and become part-time professors of Beijing University of Chemical Technology, and they would try their best to contribute to the development of Beijing University of Chemical Technology.

 

The Appointment Ceremony was successfully concluded with warm applause, and then Prof. Akcil and Prof. Onay gave a special lecture.

Prof. Ata Utku Akcil, Professor of Suleyman Demirel University, Turkey, Chief Expert of Minerals and Metals Recovery and Recycling Research Team, Associate Editor of Waste Management and Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration, and member of the editorial board of Hydrometallurgy, is engaged in the research of sustainable development, utilization, waste resource recovery and environmental protection of mineral resources. Prof. Akcil has published several articles in Waste Management, Journal of Cleaner Production, Journal of Metallurgy & Exploration, Journal of Metallurgy & Exploration, Journal of Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration, and Hydrometallurgy, and he has long been engaged in the research of the sustainable development and utilization of mineral resources, recycling of waste resources, and environmental protection. Prof. Akcil has published more than 200 research papers in international journals such as Waste Management, Journal of Cleaner Production, Journal of Hazardous Materials, Hydrometallurgy, Minerals Engineering, etc., and his articles have been cited more than 10,000 times (h-index: 46, i10-index: 104). index: 46, i10-index: 104). He has been recognized by Stanford University as one of the top 2% of the world's top scientists and Turkey's top scientists for several times.

 

Turgut Tüzün Onay, Professor at Straits University, Director of Straits University Institute of Environmental Sciences, Academic Member of IWA (International Water Association), Member of AEESP (Association of Environmental Engineering and Science Professors), Turkey, received his Ph.D. degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh, U.S.A. in 1995, and since then he has had more than 30 years of research experience in the field of environmental engineering. He is currently engaged in environmental systems analysis, impact assessment, and energy utilization of wastes, with research interests mainly covering environmental impact assessment, solid waste resource utilization, leachate treatment, soil/groundwater remediation, and land use management. He has published more than 100 papers in international journals such as Environmental Monitoring And Assessment, Waste Management and Journal of Environmental Chemical Engineering.
