On October 20, 2023, the International Cooperation Forum on Biomass Clean Cooking and Heating was held at Beijing University of Chemical Technology under the guidance of the General Station of Agricultural Ecology and Resource Protection of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Center for Foreign Cooperation and Exchange of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, and hosted by Beijing University of Chemical Technology. Li Huibin pointed out that a new round of global energy and technological revolution is developing rapidly, and renewable energy has become the main strategy for global response to climate change. As an important renewable energy source, biomass energy is of great significance in terms of clean energy supply, reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, increase in farmers' income, and ecological and environmental protection. China's 14th Five-Year Renewable Energy Development Plan strongly supports the development of renewable energy, including biomass energy, and the diversified utilization of biomass energy and its application in clean heating have received much attention. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has also formulated the Implementation Program for Emission Reduction and Carbon Sequestration in Agriculture and Rural Areas, encouraging the use of biomass, solar energy, wind energy and other green energy. He said that the organization of this international cooperation forum helps to exchange innovative technologies and management experience on the one hand, and on the other hand, it also builds a good cooperation platform for further strengthening the development and utilization of agricultural biomass energy, reducing fossil energy consumption and mitigating climate change.

At the end of the forum, more than 20 experts, scholars and entrepreneurs from China, Austria, Switzerland, Nepal, Thailand, Mongolia, the Philippines and other countries signed a statement of initiating the establishment of the Belt and Road Clean Cooking and Heating Alliance online and offline and advocated the promotion of knowledge-sharing, innovation and research and popularization of application through the platform of the Alliance to contribute to the Belt and Road green development and the realization of the United Nations sustainable development goals and global carbon neutrality.
