Workshop on Application of Research Institute and Undergraduate Major of Hydrogen Energy

In order to promote the construction of the interdisciplinary platform of Hydrogen Energy in our university, on May 20, our college organized online workshop for the Institute of Hydrogen Energy and major application of Hydrogen Science and Engineering/undergraduate.  More than 20 people attended the workshop, including Zhang Liqun, member of the standing committee of the Party Committee and vice president of the University, Yuan Qipeng, director of the Office of Planning and Discipline Construction, Wang Leyu, dean of the Academy of Science and Technology, Chen Xiaochun, chairman of the Party Committee of the College of Chemical Engineering, Qiu Jieshan, dean of the College of Chemical Engineering, Yang Weimin, dean of the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Cheng Daojian, vice dean of the College of Chemical Engineering, and representatives teachers from various colleges or departments. The meeting was chaired by Chen Xiaochun.

  


Zhang Liqun first affirmed the contributions made by the relevant responsible teachers in the early stage of planning and preparation of the hydrogen energy research. He affirmed the importance, necessity and urgency of the construction of the interdisciplinary platform of the hydrogen energy research institute and the talent training platform from the perspective of national demand and policy. He put forward three specific suggestions for the development of hydrogen energy interdisciplinary major in our school. The first, He highlighted the role of intersection, not only the intersection within the school, but also the intersection with enterprises outside the school. The second, to complete the research and development of hydrogen energy core materials and key devices, it is import to actively establish a joint research platform for production, education and research with well-known hydrogen energy enterprises. The third, it is necessary to do a good job in the field of hydrogen energy talent training, especially the application for hydrogen energy undergraduate major and interdisciplinary doctoral program.

Yuan Qipeng pointed out that it is necessary to accelerate the physical construction of the Hydrogen Energy Research Institute, further condense the research direction and construction goals in this process, and highlight characteristics of the hydrogen energy direction of our university. Wang Leyu further affirmed the significance of the construction of hydrogen Energy Research Institute and the necessity of this workshop, and pointed out that hydrogen energy research should be comprehensively arranged from three aspects of hydrogen production, storage and use. At the same time, we should pay attention to hydrogen energy safety and the research and development of membrane materials. Yang Weimin pointed out that the top-level design of discipline should be placed in an important position, including personnel layout, research direction planning and other specific issues, so as to maximize the enthusiasm of teachers involving in the construction of Hydrogen Energy Research Institute. 

  


Next, Cheng Daojian made a report on the construction of the Hydrogen Energy Research Institute, and reported on the construction of the Hydrogen Energy Research Institute from the aspects of background, goals, progress and initiatives; Zhao Hong, a researcher at Chemical Engineering, made a research report on Development, Manufacturing and Industrialization of Core Materials and Key Components and Equipment of Hydrogen Energy. Prof. Xie Pengcheng of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering made a report on Development and Manufacture of Key Materials and Equipment for High-Pressure (Type IV) Hydrogen Storage Bottles.  Prof. Xiang Zhonghua of Chemical Engineering made a research report on Development of COP-based Fuel Cell Catalytic Materials and Devices. Associate Prof. Li Zhenhua of Chemistry made a research report on Development of Hydrogen Coupled Oxidation (EHCO) Technology by Electrolysis of Water, and Professor Sun Xiaoming of Chemistry made a report on Research and Development of Key Materials and Technologies for Hydrogen Production by Seawater Electrolysis. On behalf of Chemical Engineering/Hydrogen Energy Research Institute, Dr. Cao Dong of Chemical Engineering made a report on the application planning of undergraduate major and interdisciplinary doctoral program in Hydrogen Energy Science and Engineering.

Organized by Chen Xiaochun, the participants had in-depth discussions on the Hydrogen Energy Research Institute, interdisciplinary doctoral programs of Hydrogen Energy Science and Engineering, and the application issues of Hydrogen Energy undergraduate program. In particular, they had specific discussions on the curriculum setting for hydrogen energy undergraduate program.  In the end, Qiu Jieshan made a summary and put forward further suggestions to all responsible persons and key members involved in the construction of hydrogen Energy Research Institute and undergraduate major of our university. 

 This workshop have been further promoted the construction of the Hydrogen Energy Research Institute and the application of the interdisciplinary doctoral program/ undergraduate program of Hydrogen Energy Science and Engineering, which has laid a foundation for the high-quality construction and development of the interdisciplinary platform of Hydrogen Energy of our university.
