Seminar by Prof. Bo Xin on China's High-resolution Emission Inventory and Case Application Study at Satellite Environmental Application Center of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment
On April 22, 2022, Prof. Bo Xin from Beijing University of Chemical Technology was invited to the Satellite Environmental Application Center of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment to deliver a special lecture entitled China's High-resolution Emission Inventory and Case Application Study. The lecture was conducted in a combination of online and offline. Zhang Jianhui, deputy director of the center and relevant technical personnel of atmosphere part attended the interchange activity.
Prof. Bo Xin systematically reported on the research progress of the Collaborative Control Laboratory of Pollution and Carbon Reduction of Beijing University of Chemical Technology in terms of big data cleaning, establishment of high-resolution emission inventories, numerical simulations, environmental impact assessments of emissions of key enterprises, and health risk assessment, taking the emission inventory of air pollution sources, air quality models and carbon emission assessment as the main lines. Especially, taking the iron and steel industry as an example, he introduced the research results of establishment of pollutant and carbon emission inventory, monitoring and supervision of suspected problems, assessment of atmospheric environmental impact, assessment of pollutants and carbon emission reduction potential.
Participants had an in-depth discussion with Prof. Bo Xin about the lecture, especially on how to better combine satellite remote sensing monitoring with emission inventory to support air pollution control and carbon emission reduction. This interchange activity played a positive role in strengthening cooperation and further enhancing the operational support level of atmospheric remote sensing in the future.
