On November 3, 2020 National Science and Technology Award Conference was held in the Hall of the People. Party and state leaders Xi Jinping, Li Keqiang, Wang Huning, Han Zheng attended the meeting and awarded awards to delegates. The project led by Professor Li Qunsheng of our School of Chemical Engineering and the project led by Professor Li Xiujin won the second prize of national science and technology progress. The project led by Professor Wu Yixian of our School of Materials won the second prize of national technology invention. Professor Wu Yixian won the prize as a representative.
The project of Key Technologies and Applications of High-purity / Ultra-high-purity Chemical Distillation led by Professor Li Qunsheng is a strategic demand for ultra-high-purity chemicals, especially chip-level high-purity silicon.The key technology and equipment system of distillation purification are researched and developed.The project results of 99.9999999999 percent high-purity silicon and electronic grade dichlorodihydrosilicon were applied to industrial production, which changed the situation that China exported crudesilicon products with about CNY 10,000 / ton, imported high-purity silicon with about CNY 3.8 million / ton and was blocked by foreign countries.In the past three years, the direct economic benefit has increased by 4.099 billion yuan, the energy saving is 0.3111 million tons of standard coal, and the emission reduction of chemical materials is 0.4557 million tons.
Professor Li Qunsheng
Professor Wu Yixian presided over the project of Olefin Controlled Coordination Polymerization Method and High Performance Elastomer Preparation Technology, invented the catalyst with high activity and high directional selectivity and its preparation method, olefin controlled coordination polymerization method and polymerization process and high performance olefin-based polymer elastomer preparation technology. Further, through the close combination of industry, university and research, a complete set of industrial technologies for efficient polymerization was formed, and the industrial application was realized, which provided technical support for the large-scale production of high performance olefin-based polymer elastomers and contributed to the development of polymer science and polymer chemical industry in China.
Professor Wu Yixian
Professor Li Xiujin and the team of Tianjin University completed the project of Key technologies and applications of clean and efficient gasification of biomass solid waste based on 3S dimension. He proposed a new method to significantly improve the conversion performance of biomass, established an efficient anaerobic process route, and constructed a new model of three-dimensional fertilization ecological cycle. He broke through the bottleneck of key technologies of biomass solid waste gasification with the goal of process cleaning and system efficiency, and established a number of representative demonstration projects nationwide, leading and promoting the development of solid waste energy industry in China.

With the approval of the State Council, 264 projects, 10 science and technology experts and 1 international organization were selected for the 2020 National Science and Technology Award. Among them, 46 national natural science awards include 2 first prizes and 44 second prizes; 61 National Technical Invention Awards include 3 first prizes and 58 second prizes; 157 National Science and Technology Progress Awards include 2 Special Awards, 18 First Awards and 137 Second Awards. Eight foreign experts and one international organization were awarded the International Science and Technology Cooperation Award of the People’ s Republic of China.
